Golf Carts

Golf carts must display valid SC Department of Motor Vehicles and Town of Pawleys Island decals. The Town of Pawleys Island decal can be obtained at Town Hall by completing the Town’s golf cart permit application and paying the annual $25 fee.

To register an existing golf cart with the Town of Pawleys Island you must submit a copy of the following forms:

1. A filled-out Golf Cart Permit Application
2. Valid SCDMV Golf Cart Permit Registration
   1. This must show a registration address within a 2-mile radius of the Town limits located on the North and South Causeway
3. Valid Insurance Policy

Depending on staff availability it could take 2 to 7 business days for you to receive approval after applying. Please plan accordingly.

Low-Speed Vehicles

The operation of low-speed vehicles on all primary and secondary roads within the town is prohibited. Please view this link on what is defined by the State as a Low-Speed Vehicle.

The Pawleys Island Nature park is available for public gatherings of any kind. All applicants must have a property owner of the Town of Pawleys Island to sign for use of the Nature Park. For events smaller than 25 people there are no charges of any kind. If you plan to have an event with more than 100 people please contact the Town Clerk for assistance.

Please use this form to report revenue subject to the Town of Pawleys Island accommodations tax. Reports should be submitted monthly to Town Hall.

Local A-Tax Reporting Form

This form covers the period through the last day of the month and becomes DELINQUENT if payment is POSTMARKED by the US Postal Service after the 20th day of the following month.

The Building Department is located at Town Hall at 323 Myrtle Ave. This is a division of the Town Administration and is accessible during normal business hours which are 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. The primary goal of the Building Department is to provide professional, courteous, and efficient customer service to contractors, builders, and architects assisting property owners of the Town of Pawleys Island.

CURRENTLY, THIS SERVICE IS UNAVAILABLE.

The Town of Pawleys Island has a beach wheelchair that can be used on the beach by persons who have difficulty walking in sand.  It is available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis by calling the Pawleys Island Town Hall at 843-237-1698.  The chair is located at the south end beach access and may only be used on the beach in the vicinity of that access.

Please contact Town Hall for additional information and rules for use of the chairs.

Conditions and Procedures for Use: 

• The wheelchairs may be checked out on an hourly basis and must be returned to the Police Department by 7:30 p.m. each day. 
• The chairs MAY NOT be taken outside the vicinity of the south end beach access for any reason. 
• The Town of Pawleys Island will keep the chairs clean and in operable condition. The responsible person will be liable for any damages to the chair while in his/her possession. 
• The responsible person, the person using the chair, or the user’s guardian, understands that the Town of Pawleys Island is NOT liable for any accident or injury that might occur while the chair is in their possession.

1. ONLY CHARCOAL MAY BE BURNED.
2. Cooking purposes only.
3. Fire must be contained in sand pit.
4. Person obtaining permit is responsible for damages cause by fire or litter left on beach.
5. Penalty for violation $50.00 minimum.
