HURRICANE DORIAN UPDATE #3 (9-5-2019)

PAWLEYS ISLAND – Immediately following Hurricane Dorian, access to the Town will be closed to all traffic except for emergency personnel and utility companies. Repair crews will use this time period to assess the situation and to make repairs necessary to facilitate the return of residents and property owners.

Re-entry will be announced as soon as the extent of damage to the island can be determined. Public safety is the utmost concern at this time. Announcements by Town officials will be made through all media resources and www.townofpawleysisland.com regarding re-entry decisions.

Re-entry will occur in three phases; phase one, phase two, and phase three. Phase one includes essential utilities, government, medical and damage assessment personnel. Phase two includes residents, contractors, and property owners. Phase three includes visitors and the general public.

Please plan to have the following ready to access to the island:

  • Residents and property owners: Please bring identification showing residency or ownership (driver’s license, utility bill, deed, tax bill, lease, etc.).
  • Contractors and property managers: Valid ID and proof of employment with agency. A letter from island property owner granting them permission to access their property.

Property owners are reminded that you may be allowed to reenter areas that are without utility services such as electricity, water, and sewer. Property owners must be prepared to deal with these situations.

Prior to returning to the area determine if you have credentials to gain re-entry before traveling. Questions or concerns? Call 843-237-1698 or email your questions to info@townofpi.com.  Also, if visiting the area, contact your property management to confirm it’s available and open.
