Access to Springs Avenue
At 6:30PM this evening we’ll be opening up Springs Avenue to property owners and hired contractors. Please keep in mind that some properties suffered structural damage and might not be completely safe until the necessary repairs are made. These homes are marked with a red notice on the front door and property owners that receive one should contact Georgetown County Building Department immediately.
A checkpoint will remain in place for a few more days at Springs Avenue and Pritchard Street to ensure this area is visited by only those authorized to do so. The south end beach access lot will remain closed a little longer and the general public will have no reason to visit this stretch of the island other than nose around.
We know this has been a frustrating past few days and we appreciate everyone’s patience throughout the process.
