Building and Zoning Department

The Building Department is located at Town Hall at 323 Myrtle Ave. This is a division of the Town Administration and is accessible during normal business hours which are 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. The primary goal of the Building Department is to provide professional, courteous, and efficient customer service to contractors, builders, and architects assisting property owners of the Town of Pawleys Island.

Formerly handled by Georgetown County Building Department. The Town of Pawleys Island has now partnered with SAFEbuilt. The responsibility of this department is to uphold and assure compliance with the town, state, and international building codes within the Town of Pawleys Island’s jurisdictional boundaries. The functions of the Building Department are to:

  1. Issue general permits.
  2. Promote sustainable building practices and development across the Island.
  3. Schedule and conduct construction project inspections to comply with all adopted building codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  4. Maintain the Town’s Community Rating Service of the National Flood Insurance Program.

Inspection Scheduling

To schedule an inspection please call Town Hall at (843) 237-1698 please give Town Clerk the following information.

    1. Contractor Name
    2. The type of inspection
    3. Permit Number
